Our Gift Guide wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t include our personal favorites. These are the books that make us smile, that we keep a copy of on our desks, and that we recommend to friends while explaining to them what self-publishing is all about.
Get ready to get inspired. These are the books we love because they’re awesome, they’re memorable, and they remind us why we love being self-publishers. If you’ve got someone on your holiday list who love to read and you’re not sure what to get them, this list is for you.
From Fatherless to Fatherhood
Author and world renowned actor Omar Epps chronicles his journey from humble beginnings in Brooklyn, New York, to the bright lights of Hollywood. Having grown up without his biological father, then becoming a father himself, Epps shares his story of pain and triumph in a uniquely visceral way. It’s an intimate, unapologetic, and emotional conversation about childhood, manhood, and parenting.

The Coffee Table Book of Rejected Coffee Table Books
From “Alternative Uses for Alternative Medicine” to “Voodoos and Voodon’ts”, there is something in here for everyone. Unless of course there isn’t, as over 200 publishing industry representatives have considered these pages and decided they are not worth printing. Note: Unlike the Seinfeld episode, this book does not transform into a table.

Pub Rules of the Eighties
Pub Rules of the Eighties is a joyfully shameless celebration of British humour, Eighties pop culture and swearing. Follow Chris, a young English bloke, as he navigates the perilous waters of life, love and crap jobs. Note. Please be aware this book contains a lot of swearing. Adorable, charming, funny, sarcastic British swearing though, not harsh swearing. You know, the nice swearing. If this book were a box of chocolates it would be a little bit nutty, a little bit fruity but mostly boozy.

The project is a collaboration between the SAA and the artist Konings. The book illustrates the huge variety of dogs that, largely through no fault of their own, end up in rescue environments.

Sammie & Budgie
From bestselling writer and cartoonist Scott Semegran, Sammie & Budgie is a quirky, mystical tale of a self-doubting IT nerd and his young son, who possesses the gift of foresight.
